Magri Maa is a small village
Not far from Fort William
I used to holiday there
With my distant parents
I visited Magri Maa
A few weeks ago
As I was in Scotland
To attend a funeral
It seemed much smaller
But little else had changed
I even found a rusty penknife
That I had hidden in a dry stone wall
The Black Crow Also Sings
Was still run by the same family
But they did not remember me
Which I found strangely comforting
On my last day there
I met Jean Lamour
A childhood friend
At a humble jumble sale
She had not really changed
But seemed a little less exotic
We shared stories of time passing
And kissed outside her school
This was an embrace
Of the long lost years
And nothing else
We were lovers but not in love
We agreed to correspond frequently
Even though we both had partners
Many years had passed since our childhood
And we were greedy for this opportunity
