There is a skull on my coffee table 

It consists of two seaworn pebbles 

I am not feeling that well today 

As I was introduced two two princes 

Both were called Peter 

The other Paul 

Mary Virgiinia “Jennie” Wade 

Was the only civilian killed by fire 

During the Battle of Gettysburg 

She was shot dead whilst kneading dough 

In her sisters kitchen 

I still have her distant likeness 

Hanging from my wall 

It often haunts me
