Marigold was happy
She lived in a lovely town
In a lovely house
With lovely views of the sea
She was academically comfortable
And very feminine and attractive
Marigold was God Happy
She then met Adam
Who she instantly loved
He was very kind
And treated her well
They went to the nicest of places
But he never took advantage
And was genuinely shocked
When she went topless
On a beach holiday in Crete
They married simply
In a rural church
Just before the war
Adam joined up and became a pilot
Which Marigold hated
She prayed a great deal
And God answered her prayers
As Adam was promoted
Away from the skies
Marigold was God Happy
She had always been God Happy
Even though wars
Were being fought in his name
Bernice and Bertie arrived
During the final year of the conflict
The good guys had won hands down
And things slowly returned to normal
Adam had done his duty
Marigold had done her bit
She knew that God was again happy
And because God was happy she was happy
The world although wounded was recovering
Sunflowers and cornflowers had returned in abundance
Linnets and larks flew tunefully in the peaceful skies
And brightly painted wheelbarrows
Were now appearing in the village
They had been created from the remains
Of tired and redundant tanks
