The Bookshop at the End of the World

Bunty was in bed with Des

Under their stars and stripes duvet

She was dreaming but awake at the same time

Bunty did not like Des’s hairy back

As it made him look like ann ape

In return she was told her breasts were too small

And she looked like a boy who was not yet a man

Ann Ape crept through their room into the bookshop

She had run out of milk and was screaming for coffee

Bunty cursed her dream as she hated her looks

Ann was powerfully built and had bright blue eyes

In her dream that was not a dream she had been kidnapped

But nobody had cared to pay the ransom even by instalments

Ann Ape was a kind soul and had prepared a crystal coffee

Bunty studied the cooling steam and Ann’s fantastic ankles

The bookshop was named Ankle Tattoos and Other Tattoos

It was situated opposite the town hall in the purple square

Looking into the sea

Everything was desolate

Two mourners on a pier

Black Blue Gold and Grey

How that poem made her cry

It was painted on the bedroom wall

She had painted in on the wall during her overdose

Des had several tattoos on her arm

Most were visible as she slept

Bunty had several tattoos on her bum

Which she kept well out of sight

She had painted them on her bum

During her sixth breakdown

They were love tattoos
