Our second home was tranquil
Even though its position was exposed
None of our windows were covered
As we liked to live with the sea
To the side of the steps that led to the beach
Was our small swimming pool and assorted chairs
We called this swimming pool La Petite Mer
Or the Sea of Julia and David
When I say our windows are covered
This is not completely true as we have gossamer drapes
So that we might recreate the heavy fogs of the area
The lighthouse which is visible from our flat roof
Was constructed in the service of passing ships
Just after the wreck of the SS Valiant
During the terrible winter of 1888
A cross was erected about five years ago
Along the coastal road in memory of all those lost
