Today I travelled to Dover in Kent
Which is where the poet and composer
Charlotte (Claribel) Alington is buried
After a great deal of searching
I located her final resting place
In the St James Cemetery
I found her grave in a bad condition
With much of its lettering missing
The front rail was broken
Her stone cross had fallen
And was lying nearby in the weeds
As the area was much overgrown
IN MEMORY OF CHARLOTTE ALINGTON
HE DEARLY LOVED WIFE OF THE REVD CHARLES CARY BARNARD
FORMERLY RECTOR OF BROCKLESBY LINCOLNSHIRE
DIED AT DOVER 30TH JANUARY 1869 AGED 38
Whilst many graves in this cemetery
Were in a reasonable condition
This grave was badly neglected
Which is really rather sad
Although a bunch of fresh flowers
Had recently been placed on the grave
It was obvious to me that somebody cared
