Many years ago my late grandfather

Gave me a French English French dictionary

Which he had purchased in London during the war

I still have this pocket sized book in my possession

He told me that he had carried it with him

Whilst in France in the weeks after the invasion

And that it was his greatest hope

That I would not have to carry this book

During any future days of conflict and anger
