Did you know that your father designed

The Ground Radar Systems

Used by the Luftwaffe

Yes he was sent to prison

After the war for eight years

It was obvious to me

That this was not for the non payment

Of outstanding library fines

Some might say that because

Of the gravity of his crime

He was lucky to escape the gallows

And feel offended by your flippant answer

You have not changed since I last met you

If anything time has not mellowed your tongue

My father designed Ground Radar Systems

That was all he was guilty of during the war

He was not a mass murderer like many others

And that is why I was so appalled

That he was sent to prison in the first place

Like many others he only served the country he loved
