Cool Japan

The sun is leaving the day

That is what you used to say as a child

As the sun set on cool autumn evenings

Cool Japan was listening to a recording of her mothers voice

On her desk was a glossy book about tygers

Cool Japan had written the book and was signing copies

She hoped that her mother would be at the signing

But did not expect her as Los Angeles was a lifetime away

Cool Japan was an expert on tigers and had written many books

She was highly regarded in the community and as a wildlife artist

Tygers had brought her wealth and fame but she still felt empty

As she wanted to experience the cool air of a November evening

And the warmth of her mothers red leather gloves

At the rear of the crowded bookshop a small woman

Sat quietly as Cool Japan read from her latest book

The woman was wearing a red coat and a mock tiger scarf
