The Rest is Silence

I have thought about this line for many years

I am trying to gather the meaning

Who said it

Hamlet

What was his meaning

I believe he was speaking of total annihilation

He considers that death offers him the relief he craves

He stops speaking and contemplates his approaching death

What kills him

Poison

Claudius and Laertes plan to kill Hamlet during a fencing match

But both Hamlet and Laetres are fatally poisoned during the match

Yet before he dies Hamlet kills Claudius

Why are we discussing Hamlet

Because you asked me about the final line of my final poem

Its ending will be borrowed from Hamlet

The Rest is Silence

And then I will cease writing Jane

What will you do Stan

I might visit bus shelters around the country

Bus shelters interest me greatly

As they vary so much

Or I will visit garages

Garages that are located in beautiful locations

There are two near here

One on a hill with sea and railway views

And another that backs onto a tidal bay

Stan have you taken something

I am clean

Is this why you write poetry

Please explain

Poetry takes me everywhere and nowhere

I travel through time and into infinity

I am everywhere and nowhere

I am the silence and the apocalypse

Stan is it dark in there

Where

Up your own arse

I do not know as I have never visited it

But I suspect that it is dark

Stan have you ever thought about taking up fencing

Stan and Jane
