Maerin
I read your funny article
It was so true
Both of us have travelled
And have seen how
The cops work in different countries
Indeed I experienced this first hand
White English Middle Class Highly Educated Joe
Had a baton placed over his windpipe
Because he did not understand
A garbled instruction in a Paris subway
In most other countries
If you riot then you are met with force
Batons water canons tear gas rubber bullets
But not here
The cops just stand back
And surrender their car
(not the rainbow ones mind you)
I recently read that something rainbow
Was smeared with red paint
By some vandals who were bored
It is being treated as a hate crime
Whatever that is
I like you a great deal Maerin
But if I hurt you
Would that be a hate crime or a like crime
When we were kids
I always gave you your Lego back
(Have you still got Josie’s Sindy Dolls)
Although the UK is getting worse
(and we all know the reasons why)
The cops instead of showing strength
Do little that matters
And now Kiera Starbucks
Wants to let some of the bad guys
Out of jail
Not just accountants
With hands in the till
But bad guys
Many of whom will re-offend
It is like something out of Kafka
To close and I am thinking of getting glasses
Are some of the senior females
In government swelling up
Or is it an optical illusion
Give me your thoughts
As glasses can be fucking expensive
And unlike Josie I do not look good in them
The world is a mess my friend
And I am still trying to find
A senior female cop
Who has anything approaching
A feminine hairstyle
In Italy and my beloved France
Great numbers of the female cops
Appear to have stepped
Out of the pages of Vogue
Whereas the best we can do
In the UK is Spare Rib or Farmers Weekly
As you can see my pen is becoming irritated again
When in Richmond
You know where I live
But do not tell the cops
Joe
