There is a legend that scores of flying smails 

Were frequently seen in the middle of the twelfth century 

In the skies above Theydon Bois 

These were noted and illustrated in the Epping Drolleries 

I have lived in the village for many years

But I have never seen a flying snail 

Although they can be seen

Occasionally at the tube station

Waiting for the London trains
