Raffia Days

I managed to break my leg playing football

And because of that I was condemned

To the Skool Raffia Class with all the girlie girls

I was soon joined by Stevie (crusty pants) Caldwell

Who had also broken his leg but in two places

The art teacher Miss Dennis ran these lessons

She was one of natures nice teachers

Who gave us free licence to do what we wanted

The girls apart from Sandra made place mats and baskets

Whereas Stevie Sandra and I made garroting ropes

Which we tested on the first year and their pet hamsters

These were happy days and we did not miss our football at all

In one week in March I wiped out three quarters of 1A/2

And had the even great fortune to leave my raffia ropes

Near and on our brand new Eileen Drapes

Which given the dampness of window

Caused the many colours to profusely run

I was sentenced to seven years on Devils Island

But it was all worth it as it still causes me to smile
