Penelope Perry

You vanished many years ago

In July

July the 23rd

We had agreed to meet on platform two

However your train did not show up

(I learnt later that it had arrived on platform six)

(there is no platform six)

Friends do not normally vanish

I thought you had suffered an accident

But there was no record of any distress

Deep down I think that you chose to vanish

Even though we were good friends

But I wish I knew

It is the not knowing that haunts

If you are reading this Penelope Perry

Or whatever you are called now

Just give me the tiniest clue

Tell me that all is well

I will I promise not follow this up

I still live in Bristol

39 Marvell Avenue

Not far from my old house

I am happily married to Jill Dean (remember her)

We are both teachers in the city

And up to recently I played non league football

Jill still loves singing in her choirs

I also write for a living (as you can see)

I do hope that even if you do not reply

That this finds you well

Fond memories
