Return from Portland

Julie who had been in Portland for the past two weeks

Rang me and said that she would be at the the railway station

The short break seemed to have done Julie some good

As her face showed colour and her eyes were blue bright

She had spent some time with her American father and his wife

After a while my friend dipped into her bag and handed me a gift

It was an unusual white ceramic with a distinct nouveau feel

A maiden seemed to be emerging from a tree although half draped

In a loose and flowing bed sheet late of sleep

It was wild and energetic but sedate at the same time
