When I was fourteen I had an affair with my English teacher

In certain ways it changed my life as she was a published poet

And this helped me though the minefield of my many exams

Although it was not common knowledge I was also a poet

At least twenty of my poems had been published in magazines

Should would call me Verboten Baby when in company

Which might have been true as she was only twenty years my senior

I also used her nick name as my slightly mysterious pseudonym

She is now married and although we still see each other on occasions

Nobody has ever found out about our mental and physical connections

I still write under my original pseudonym although I do have others

We are both very successful writers and are often compared

Which brings us both a great deal of hidden happiness
