Occasionally I pass through the station
Where Butterfield’s used to have a bookstall
Whilst still standing its function has now radically changed
It is no longer a retail unit situated on platform three
But a place where redundant equipment is often stored
Deep in history and thousands of trains into my past
I met a fellow poet there who influences me to this day
Her name was Marjory Irene and she was the owners daughter
We hit it off straight away and often stayed in the bookstall
Until the station closed discussing poetry and writing in general
Marjory and I were only together for six months before we parted
We both became successful poets and have published many books
She now lives in the USA having married her senior professor
Whereas I live in Richmond with my sister and our girlfriend Sephine
