Describe the cave paintings Jim
In their way they are outstanding
Rough but totally original
They are nothing like any other cave paintings
Found over the last few centuries
Describe them to me
This may surprise you
As the images were highly sexual
They appear to be celebrating orgies
And are in their way highly detailed
Everybody seems to be fucking each other
There are no parameters even animals are involved
When were these paintings first discovered
In 1834 by a Swiss explorer named Muller
Did they cause a stir due to the content
Very much but the discovery was soon hushed up
Within the year the cave was sealed up by the church
It was recorded and slowly forgotten about
What about Muller
He was paid for his silence
But he wrote some poems
One especially interested me
Walls of Paradise
It describes a Jesuit priest
Discovering the cave
And using it as a place of sin
However it was never completed
And wrongly attributed to another poet
It is also known as
The Cave of the Fireflies
I have a copy of this poem
On my wooden desk
Please read it to me
It is in German
I do not read German very well
My German is stronger
It roughly reads
This magical cave is illuminated
By God’s forgotten creatures
Who have been contaminated
By dreadful tales of sin
Is that all
More or less
There are a couple of dates
And some crude sketches
But the poem gives no clue
As to the location of the cave
Do you know where the cave is
Yes I am aware of its location
Will you take me there
In time yes
Will the cave paintings shock me
Is the world ready for these paintings
Time will tell Claudine
But whether the world is ready
Is open to question
As these paintings rewrite history
