I woke up this morning

With a single thought

In my empty head

Today I would get a chill

So I wandered to the river

And jumped in from the jetty

Used by the river steamers


After a while I became aware

That I was being watched

By a kind girl in a coloured sweater

She offered me a blue cigarette

With a thin gold band set in diamonds

As I dried myself with a patterned napkin

Lou held out her hand and introduced herself
