My grandfather founded

One of the worlds great banks

His name was Richard Holmes

He arrived in the USA on the SS April Jane

And within thirty years

Was the head of the bank

That carried his memorable name

But he never forgot his Scottish roots

And for many years he had a ship in a bottle

Displayed prominently on his office desk

The ship was the SS April Jane

I now own this ship in a bottle

And often see my late grandfather

Looking out to sea from its historic decks
