I have I think witnessed

The bleakest ending to a movie 

That I have ever seen

What was the movie 

Albert Road 

It is set in Oxford 

At one of the colleges 

Not really 

It concentrates on Hannah 

Who comes from a poor family 

She is forever in debt 

That said she knows that with a little help

She could receive good degree

So she seduces her louche professor 

Who she finds out

Has received previous advantages 

In exchange for favourable reviews  

The whole idea makes her feel dirty 

But she is not in a position to refuse 

They drive to clearing in the woods 

Where he soon begins his advances

It is then that she refuses him 

This offends and the professor slaps her 

She begins to cry but this does not help 

So instantly and without thought

She stabs him with a letter opener 

This is the final scene of Albert Road 

Hannah without any emotion

 Watches the older man slowly die

The camera does not leave her expressionless face 

Until a hint of a smile passes her lips 

The movie ends in complete silence 

And Hannah is last seen

Sitting in a bus shelter 

Watching the autumn leaves

Fall from the trees 

It begins to rain heavily

And then the screen

Becomes blank
