Short Stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>You Handsome Dog<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Handsome was the type of man who when entering a room turned heads<\/p>\n<p>He was aware of this fact and his life was a series of failed relationships<\/p>\n<p>He would date beautiful women and expect them to admire him<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You was a church warden and was very happy in his calling<\/p>\n<p>He felt loved by God<\/p>\n<p>And was radiant in his behaviour<\/p>\n<p>He cared for women greatly<\/p>\n<p>But had no time to experience relationships<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dog was a vicars daughter<\/p>\n<p>Her real name was Julie<\/p>\n<p>But she had become accustomed to her cruel name<\/p>\n<p>Although a beautiful person physically she was unattractive<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She admitted Handsome from afar<\/p>\n<p>But knew that he was repulsed<\/p>\n<p>When he looked at her<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For all the time he spent with beautiful women<\/p>\n<p>Handsome was aware that his looks would fade<\/p>\n<p>And then he would look for a life-partner<\/p>\n<p>Who was not beautiful<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the age of forty-nine You proposed to Dog<\/p>\n<p>During an outing with the choir<\/p>\n<p>She accepted his proposal on the spot<\/p>\n<p>It was the happiest day of her life<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The following year she wrote a book<\/p>\n<p>It was called<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SNATCH FICTION<\/p>\n<p>Every Tuesday I retire to my sister\u2019s house for lunch<\/p>\n<p>This is strictly a fiction as I do not have a sister<\/p>\n<p><i>Pray for me<br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Post-Modern<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I live in a Post-Modern house<\/p>\n<p>And keep a Post-Modern cat<\/p>\n<p>I have a Post-Modern wife<\/p>\n<p>And three Post-Modern children<\/p>\n<p>Who attend a Post-Modern school<\/p>\n<p>I am a Post-Modern man<\/p>\n<p><b>Coffee<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As she rose from her seat on the train Mercy stumbled forward<\/p>\n<p>She was holding a carton of station coffee<\/p>\n<p>The contents splashed violently forward in the direction of a man in a grey suit<\/p>\n<p>Who was due to attend an important meeting in the city<\/p>\n<p><i>Oh I am so sorry so very sorry<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Said Mercy trying to suppress a smile<\/p>\n<p>The man in the suit said nothing<\/p>\n<p>Trevor was standing in the vestibule unaware of the incident<\/p>\n<p><i>I spilt my coffee and it splashed a city gent<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Did it piss him off?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>No he said nothing<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>That as nice of him<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Mercy handed the almost empty carton to Trevor<\/p>\n<p><i>Be a darling and dispose of this will you<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>No I will go further than that<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I will find the most destitute man in this town and present him with this carton and the remains of your coffee<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>That is a rather cruel thing to consider<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>It is my greatest gift for I am The Polish Jesus Christ<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Said Trevor as he adopted a mock crucifixion pose<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Silent Poems (Winter)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Travelling in Paradise<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In Paradise accept the winter fields<\/p>\n<p>And admire the seasonal grasses<\/p>\n<p>We should all caress the blind black birds<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Butterfly Sun\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Butterfly Sun hangs low today<\/p>\n<p>In the distance the dusk clouds are gathering<\/p>\n<p>It will be dark within this hour<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Frozen in Amber<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I am digging a hole within a hole<\/p>\n<p>And documenting the dream lives of angels<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You Handsome Dog Handsome was the type of man who when entering a room turned heads He was aware of this fact and his life was a series of failed relationships He would date beautiful women and expect them to admire him &nbsp;
