May had arrived and the first cricket match of the season

Had started at exactly thirty minutes past two

The air was humid but there was a light cool breeze

Which held the temperatures back even in the sun

The hollow sound of bat on to ball echoed endlessly

As Alison B and I watched the match from the car park

We were sitting in her bright red open top car

My friend was wearing a large pair of glasses and a cream blouse

She was bored by the cricket match and did not hide the fact

But we both knew that we would have to remain there

Until Norman arrived with the parcel that we had been asked to collect
