{"id":10832,"date":"2022-05-16T17:58:23","date_gmt":"2022-05-16T16:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stuartpoetry.art\/?p=10832"},"modified":"2022-05-20T13:39:57","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T12:39:57","slug":"travelling-with-novalis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2022\/05\/16\/travelling-with-novalis\/","title":{"rendered":"Travelling with Novalis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>to romanticise the world is to make us aware\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>of the magic mystery and wonder of the world\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>it is to educate the senses to see the ordinary\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>as extraordinary the familiar as strange\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>the mundane as sacred the finite as infinite<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Who said that<\/p>\n<p>Novalis<\/p>\n<p>Never heard of him or her<\/p>\n<p>He was a German poet<\/p>\n<p>Novalis was his pen name<\/p>\n<p>His birth name was Georg Philipp Friedrich Freiherr von Hardenberg<\/p>\n<p>I can see why he changed it<\/p>\n<p>Died young I suppose<\/p>\n<p>Yes he only lived to twenty-eight<\/p>\n<p>Died of TB I suppose they all died of TB<\/p>\n<p>Have you read his poetry<\/p>\n<p>I cannot say I have<\/p>\n<p>Those romantics leave me cold<\/p>\n<p>All these poncy worlds and deep thoughts<\/p>\n<p>Try thinking about those when you are commuting<\/p>\n<p>That is the real world there is nothing romantic about travel<\/p>\n<p>Travel is one of the most romantic pastimes<\/p>\n<p>It is moving theatre different each day<\/p>\n<p>At seven in the morning you cannot see fuck all<\/p>\n<p>There is still a beauty the beauty of the dawn<\/p>\n<p>I will be through my first coffee by then<\/p>\n<p>I often read Novalis when I am travelling<\/p>\n<p>His work is so soothing as he finds beauty in everything<\/p>\n<p>I will tell you what my friend here is my book of Novalis poems<\/p>\n<p>Read them on the train and I know that it is different from The Sun<\/p>\n<p>But I promise you that by the time you reach London that you will be a happy man<\/p>\n<p>I will take your wretched newspaper in exchange and read it from cover to cover<\/p>\n<p>It might not take me long but I will understand your head space your orbit if you please<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Anna what are you doing<\/p>\n<p>Outlaw asked me to write a fiction<\/p>\n<p>Which he will pass off as his own<\/p>\n<p>If it makes money then I will receive the proceeds<\/p>\n<p>Outlaw is poor you know he is struggling<\/p>\n<p>He is struggling my arse<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever visited his house<\/p>\n<p>No<\/p>\n<p>It is not far from here and has fabulous sea views<\/p>\n<p>Are they better than ours<\/p>\n<p>Yes he has a wide view due to his location<\/p>\n<p>Then why do we meet in dreadful cafes<\/p>\n<p>It is all image he likes to feel that he is a man of the people<\/p>\n<p>Is he<\/p>\n<p>Like fuck he is he despises them all for their stupidity<\/p>\n<p>Anna my love you will have to get used to it<\/p>\n<p>That Outlaw is a piece of shit<\/p>\n<p>A nice piece of shit<\/p>\n<p>But a piece of shit nonetheless<\/p>\n<p>He created us<\/p>\n<p>I know<\/p>\n<p>Are you not scared that he might let us fade<\/p>\n<p>He is not like that as once he creates characters<\/p>\n<p>Outlaw forms an emotional attachment to them<\/p>\n<p>Think of Viola and all the dreadful things that happen to her<\/p>\n<p>But she always returns<\/p>\n<p>So we are safe<\/p>\n<p>Yes we are<\/p>\n<p>Remember Crete<\/p>\n<p>Yes I had a lovely time<\/p>\n<p>Well why would he have taken us to Crete<\/p>\n<p>If he was going to get rid of us<\/p>\n<p>Do you think he will like my fiction<\/p>\n<p>I think he will as you were satirical<\/p>\n<p>About the stupidity of the working classes<\/p>\n<p>Outlaw likes that kind of humour<\/p>\n<p>I think that we are both good for a few more fictions Anna<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Anna &amp;
