Yes <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I went to a jumble sale today <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you find any exciting <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A nice fishermans sweater <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do not think it has ever been worn <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An unwanted Christmas present maybe<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also found a book on typing <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It dates from 1969<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An interesting read <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not really <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it did have a short poem in it <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a typing book <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No it was added in pencil <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read it to me <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If mini skirts get any shorter <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Said a typist with a blush <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be two more cheeks to powder <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And some more hair to brush<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have heard of it before <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who wrote it Stan <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fuck knows <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is very much of its time <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was time of rebellion <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of revolution <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The establishment was being challenged <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you ever seen a movie called Vanishing Point <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hero is driving across Amerika <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is delivering a car <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe that he was a Vietnam Vet <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is still processing his life <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But he has chosen to drive at speed<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This fucks off the cops <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And they begin to chase him <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does it all end <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He drives deliberately into a couple of bulldozers <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That are blocking the road  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does he die <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why does he kill himself <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is not really articulated <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is an open question <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Either the system destroyed him <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or he beat the system <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the end of the counterculture <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are we free now Stan <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We like to think that we are <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But little has changed <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If anything we are more controlled <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We like to think that we are free <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we are restricted<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Money controls us Jane <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We both have good jobs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And because of that we can fund our lifestyle <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can afford this beautiful apartment <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our friends are the same <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we are cast aside then it damages us <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It happened to Ralph and Chrissy <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Lulu and Lulu  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Loulou and Loulou <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My father once knew a chap called Graham <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He lost in job and took it to heart <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graham disappeared <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until the River Police found him three weeks later <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system had destroyed him <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is always alternative employment <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are lucky <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chrissie now works for another bank <\/p>\n\n\n\n

God smiled on her but Ralph is still out in the cold <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do they still live in Hammersmith <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No they have downsized <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are those who think that they control the system <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They do not as it is an illusion <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stan <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you think happened to the typist <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which typist <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one in a short skirt <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do not know <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think her name was Celia <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was later found in High Holborn <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With little or nothing on <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or that is how the poem goes <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system had beaten her too <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is my act of rebellion <\/p>\n\n\n\n
