{"id":12522,"date":"2023-01-21T17:53:39","date_gmt":"2023-01-21T17:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.co.uk\/?p=12522"},"modified":"2023-01-21T17:53:39","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T17:53:39","slug":"moon-marigold-avenue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/21\/moon-marigold-avenue\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Moon Marigold Avenue<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am walking down Moon Marigold Avenue&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where on a warm summer&#8217;s afternoon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two bandits came out of the sun&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And needlessly opened fire&nbsp;on innocent civilians<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazingly nobody was killed&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the milkman found a bullet lodged in the heel of his boot<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When he returned from his round&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That milkman was my father and I still have those boots&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At present they are on loan to the Barton museum&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of their<em>&nbsp;Dig for Victory<\/em>&nbsp;exhibition&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I live at number thirty-three which is roughly opposite&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entrance to the old goods yard&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is now a business park overlooking the railway&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can hear but not see the passing trains<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has always been that way which I find comforting&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are various wartime relics to be found&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two pill boxes that now their use extinguished&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crumble slowly into the recent past&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crossing gates are still in situ but the lines have been lifted&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They stare at the vacancy of their previous use&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the corner near the brow of the hill is a grocery shop&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which has always been run by the James family&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I went to school with the twins Lily and Lyn&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their father died at Dunkirk&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And their mum later married the landlord of the Five Bells&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My brother lives with Lyn and now owns the shop&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much has changed yet much remains to give clue&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To the quiet history of Moon Marigold Avenue Barton on Sea&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am walking down Moon Marigold Avenue&nbsp;
