{"id":13284,"date":"2023-03-10T18:19:21","date_gmt":"2023-03-10T18:19:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.co.uk\/?p=13284"},"modified":"2023-03-10T23:03:47","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T23:03:47","slug":"one-minute-with-stuart-miller-osborne-poet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2023\/03\/10\/one-minute-with-stuart-miller-osborne-poet\/","title":{"rendered":"One Minute With &#8230; Stuart Miller Osborne Poet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WHERE ARE YOU NOW AND WHAT CAN YOU SEE ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At present I am in my deceased father&#8217;s study (He died in a car crash aged 19 in September 1973)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the only window in this room I can see the sea <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My fathers name was Stephen Masefield (which is my name also)  I use Stuart Miller Osborne as a pen name to avoid confusion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am currently reading his second volume of poetry Escape (1971) as I feel that I need to revisit his work<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My father died before he had truly bloomed but his small contribution to poetry cannot be underestimated <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His short life was as important as that of Rimbaud<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My mother (who lives in Chile) has retained his library which I often consult<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE AUTHOR AND WHY DO YOU ADMIRE THEM ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michel Houellebecq is my favourite author as he is very edgy and brutally honest <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody writing today comes anywhere near him <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To split this question I as a poet admire many other poets although if I had a favourite it would be Gerard Manley Hopkins <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DESCRIBE THE ROOM WHERE YOU USUALLY WRITE <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I should leave the the answer blank as I write wherever I choose<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I have noted I am currently writing in my fathers house which directly faces the sea on the East Kent coast<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To my left I can see the coast of France and to my right I can see Ramsgate which is slightly hidden by the pier <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This said on some days I can see nothing because of the sea fogs that frequent this area <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WHICH FICTIONAL CHARACTER MOST RESEMBLES YOU ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daniel Martin or maybe Gerard de Nerval&#8217;s lobster I have not made my mind up yet <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WHO IS YOUR HERO FROM OUTSIDE LITERATURE <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is an easy one as I admire Richard Burton greatly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I do not have heroes apart from the chap in the mirror each morning but Richard is my hero as he was an extraordinary man<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">STUART MILLER OSBORNE (Stephen Masefield) has written over four thousand poems which are collected online<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He shuns the limelight and asks not to be considered for any awards <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His work is much admired and much loathed by many<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He never gives interviews (apart from the one in this newspaper) and notes that he intends to be even less conspicuous than either Thomas Pynchon or Jerome David Salinger<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WHERE ARE YOU NOW AND WHAT CAN YOU SEE ?
