Margate and Folkestone are not that far apart <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One is elegant and the other is what it is <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They both speak to me as most towns do <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am sitting stiff<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Margate Sands <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reading poetry <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not my poetry far from it as it comes from another book <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Folkestone Training College 1947-1950 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is time capsule of things past and things lost <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One poem which I will reproduce interests me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will share it in a few lines time <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do I have a good knowledge of my location <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Possibly not <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another poet as forgotten as I am <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wrote a poem <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will read it now <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This man has planted tranquil stones <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With lucid flowers ; <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firmly set down sweet life in stones <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through laboured hours <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whence came the seed of these flowers ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The darling seed ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What breath informed these stony flowers <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That he has freed ? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
What power could generate the seed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such blossoms attest ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What love or like as he indeed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Made manifest ? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These patient stones may answer best : <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shall surely prove <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most eloquent ; with being blest <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And filled with love . <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have no real opinions about this poem <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which seems old fashioned against modern tastes <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I like it I feel the poets words <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I tend to read poetry but not judge it <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who am I to judge the words of others <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That would just be arrogant <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sun has faded under the shower clouds <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the wind which was once cool is now cold <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am thinking of my four girls at Dreamland <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is a recreation that does not interest me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reading poetry on a chilly beach how foolish he is <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I am missed as I am always missed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They await my safe return <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And look across the bleak sands <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where the shadows<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the afternoon <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once roamed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A familiar stranger approaches them<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the late air magnificent <\/p>\n\n\n\n
