He was invited to the Captains House<\/p>\n
And was given the gift of a rug<\/p>\n
Which was unwoven in front of him<\/p>\n
To aid his work<\/p>\n
In later life Altis was given permission<\/p>\n
To sit in the sun<\/p>\n
On the castle walls<\/p>\n
And count the lichens<\/p>\n
As he admitted their simplicity<\/p>\n
