I was on holiday with Egg Julie and Bizzy Lizzy <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As normal we were in deepest Kent <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were swimming in Meek Creek <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or at least my dear friends were <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I had been told to stay in port <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I had an infected foot <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was reading The Nigger of the Narcissus <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And would later read Typhoon <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joseph Conrad was my favourite author <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I was glad to have found <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This rare edition at a jumble sale <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Egg was next to me reading Lucy is a Rich Bitch <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or he was pretending to as he was watching Julie swimming<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He took a great interest when she stood up in the water <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As her white swimming costume because quite translucent<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was in love with Julie unlike me as I found her rather plain<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bizzy Lizzy wore a sensible black costume <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was a serious girl although great fun to be with <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet thought Julie lightweight and very giggly <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But they were the best of friends and shared a room together<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My favourite months are obviously the summer months <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I love the colours the perfumes and the warmth <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I love the long days and short nights and staying up late<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Staring at the stars until that you realise that you are dreaming <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kent is a mainly flat county which makes it seem bigger <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its lanes seem longer and the trees taller and the skies endless <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know no other county that I favour more <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have always read Conrad as his were tales of adventure<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which I wanted to imitate as I travelled around the world <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But on hot summer days next to cool waters <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was quite distant from my thoughts <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Egg was swimming with the girls and I felt jealous of his adventure <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But doctors orders were doctors orders<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet I wanted to be foolish and abandon my book <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I wanted to fade into these days without planned occupation <\/p>\n\n\n\n
