Jane and I viewed the eclipse <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From a field above the village <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was nearer to the sky than the sea <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were members of a much larger audience <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who had travelled miles to enjoy this vantage<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later we retired to a nearby naturist beach <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which given the crowds was lightly used <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do not fully remember who was there <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thirty or forty people at the most <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although I can remember <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A fat bottomed girl <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who was wearing a white tee shirt <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a large target printed on it <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She appeared to be from Belgium <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As her boyfriend was wearing a purple <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anderlecht football shirt slightly faded <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eclipse was a number of years ago <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I can recall the strange grey light <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The immense darkness and the chilled air <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But not much else as the eclipse passed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spectacularly but without real incident <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In April as we were in the area again <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jane and I revisited the hill above the village <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And found that although the paths were well kept <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That the fields had aged badly and were rather wild <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which was a little sad for me as I do not like change <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We chose not to visit the naturist beach <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the April air was still cool even in the weak sun <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the distance it looked as sorry as the high fields <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lonely and forgotten in the bleakness of the month <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is likely that we will return quite soon<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As our past is there <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are parts of us <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That will never leave <\/p>\n\n\n\n
