I watched as a couple walked slowly

Along the sun dappled platform

They were happy and totally oblivious

Of the story of the screaming girl

Who is said to haunt this station

Searching for the lost coin of her youth

Which was taken from her on her last bed

She has never been seen

But is often heard screaming when the sun is high

There is a sunken platform shallow behind me

Which was constructed over a Fantome dans le metro

Which was a three hundred old plague pit

Quite why it was given this title is unclear

As we are in London and not Paris

The couple who passed me minutes ago

Have now vanished totally from sight

This has unnerved me as the final station exit

Is to my left under the circular bridge

They were walking in the opposite direction

I considered them lost their geography mistaken

And thought that they would rectify their error in time

My train has now been delayed it is likely to be cancelled

I am now alone on the platform which is normally quite busy

The station appears to be totally deserted

I have closed my eyes as the screaming

Has started again and the air is already chilled
