On the evening of the 23rd of October 1958<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At Braintree Station in Essex<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A very alarming event<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was overheard on the loudspeakers <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A woman’s scream <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stop it Jack you are hurting me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then another scream <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then the sound of somebody falling on to a wooden floor <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The strange thing is that despite extensive police enquiries <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No evidence of a violent crime<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the vicinity of either the station <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or within the immediate area<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was ever uncovered <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The story in time faded from view <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That was until June 1999 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When strange sounds were heard coming from Alcock Terrace <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which was a row of Victorian Railway Cottages <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was again investigated but nothing was found <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And as before the story faded from view <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it was brought screaming to the surface <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the afternoon of the 9th of July 2021 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When during the demolition of Alcock Terrace <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A skeleton was found buried in the cellar of number six <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was later confirmed that this was the skeleton of Muriel Tapper <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who had disappeared from her home in Witham in 1956<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On further examination it was found that the victim <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had died from a severe blow to the back of her head<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her husband Jack Tapper who was a person of interest <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had emigrated to Australia in 1959 and was last heard of in 1970 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police investigations soon stalled due to this and the amount of time<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That had elapsed since the murder <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the case was shelved as unsolved earlier this year <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No reasonable explanation has ever been presented as to why <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The loudspeakers picked up Muriel Tapper’s last moments <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On that chilly October evening in 1958<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This remains a mystery <\/p>\n\n\n\n
