This summer has been very hot

It is likely to be the hottest on record

Like many I have been outdoors

For as long as I could be

That was until last week

When I saved a woman

From being hit by a speeding car

But I was injured myself

I broke my leg

It was a bad injury

Which has left me bed bound

For at least a month

Jessie and my three sisters

Have been so kind to me

They feed and wash me

And keep an eye out for sores

Which might cause me problems

As it is so hot I prefer to be naked

With the fresh sea breeze cooling me

I feel that I would suffocate

If I was bed dressed

Of late my wife and my sisters

Have attended me without clothes

Which is kind of them

And Hilda has given me a book

About T.E.Lawrence

Which is an enjoyable read

At night I imagine myself

Fighting the bad guys in the desert

Instead of sweating and being unable

To move a great deal

Cass has purchased a dozen cigarette cards

Dating from the period as they interest me

She has also insisted on being on bedpan duty

Which I enjoy as she wears only an apron

Nora is the blanket bath queen

As she is the gentle and light handed

And does not worry if I get an erection

The silly thing is that hot weather

Has always makes me horny

And the sight of four beautiful women

Looking after my every need quite naked

Is pleasurable to say the least

I often wonder if I am not indeed dead

And this is the heaven of my choice

As I took an almighty whack

When saving the mayors daughter

And whilst I am on the subject

I have been told that I am going to be

Awarded something or the other

In a ceremony at the town hall

When I am better and can walk unaided

I was offered a wheelchair but chose to wait

At present Annie is painting a water colour

Of the pink crimson tree in our garden below

She is a slight girl and not very tall

And looks like a Botticelli Angel

The sunlight almost makes her invisible

Hilda and Cass are working on a sampler together

In the shadow of the drape

And Jessie my beloved wife is quietly reading to me

Possibly because I am sometimes delirious I notice fine detail

One rather trite observation is that the light afternoon breeze

Hardens the nipples of my wife and my three sisters

When they are in this open and airy room

I am now considering writing a poem

About these days and weeks of experience

Who knows I might actually finish it this time …
