At the top of Peg Road there was a furniture shop run by my uncle <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It had been there since 1915 with Reg taking over in 1960<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reg Palmerston was my my fathers brother <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My name is Stuart Palmerston <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In my early twenties I often worked in the shop <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So that I could save up to go travelling with Stella and George <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was whilst I was in Italy that I heard that Reg had died <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This although very sad did not surprise me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Reg was a heavy smoker and his health often suffered <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But there was an even greater surprise when I returned to the UK <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I found out that I had been left the shop and his bungalow in his will<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had never married or had children and apart from my father <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was his nearest living relative and he treated me very much as his son <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following year I asked Stella to marry me and join me in the business <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I sometimes wonder what might have happened if Reg had not died when he did <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Would I have been able to provide an instant home for my beloved Stella <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The business with a little help from my father went from strength to strength <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And now I own a chain of shops across Norfolk and Suffolk <\/p>\n\n\n\n
