Russell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Betty Russell was sitting on her mother\u2019s lawn<\/p>\n<p>She had adored the lower lawn since childhood<\/p>\n<p>The large expanse of soft grass had once been pristine<\/p>\n<p>But now it was now covered by moss<\/p>\n<p>Much to Betty\u2019s delight<\/p>\n<p>Quite frequently when the air was dark<\/p>\n<p>Betty would roll naked on the lawn<\/p>\n<p>To enjoy the velvet dampness of green grown moss<\/p>\n<p>She was reading a book of poetry<\/p>\n<p>Written by a Canarian poet named<\/p>\n<p>Nicolas Estevanez<\/p>\n<p><i>And often I forget<br \/>\nall life\u2019s uncertainties<br \/>\nthinking of these<br \/>\nislands, the mountains<br \/>\nbeaches, waves. <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>In her mother\u2019s house in Arucas<\/p>\n<p>Tomatoes were drying in garlands<\/p>\n<p>On the verandah<\/p>\n<p>Betty\u2019s mother who was also called Betty<\/p>\n<p>Thought that they resembled peaches<\/p>\n<p>But knew that this was just a trick of the light<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Betty\u2019s sister who was also called Betty<\/p>\n<p>Was sitting on the dunes at Maspalomas<\/p>\n<p>With her brother Russell<\/p>\n<p>They were sketching the dunes of Corralejo from memory<\/p>\n<p>Betty was identical to her twin-sister in aspects except one<\/p>\n<p>The length of their hair separated them<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Betty\u2019s mother was in a bookshop<\/p>\n<p>Signing copies of her latest book<\/p>\n<p><i>Nudism for Conjoined Twins \u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>It had become a bestseller in all the conjoined communities<\/p>\n<p>Around the world<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Conjoined Twins should be able to enjoy the wonders of nudism as much as their singular friends<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Indeed they are at a slight advantage <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>As although nudism has long been recognised as a family pursuit many nudists are single and at times quite lonely <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Conjoined twins should they choose to do so always have a partner to speak to<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Which further highlights the delights of this pursuit<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The butcher had told Betty that most of the beef that was enjoyed by the islanders was of a very high quality and imported from South America<\/p>\n<p>Pork and Lamb however was sourced locally as was rabbit<\/p>\n<p>Rabbit he explained could be successfully enjoyed cooked with onions red pepper and oregano and served in a piquant sauce<\/p>\n<p>This made Betty very happy as she adored cooking<\/p>\n<p>Her brother loved the timple which was a four or five stringed guitar and was made by hand by craftsmen on the island<\/p>\n<p>When his sister was cooking he would often sit on the high green stool and play simple folk tunes to her<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each year at the end of November the three Betty\u2019s and their brother Russell would come together to celebrate the colour green<\/p>\n<p>They would wander slowly along a cornice road and discuss the colour in depth arguing on occasions and agreeing on others<\/p>\n<p>When not discussing the colour they would enjoy the magnificent views afforded<\/p>\n<p>They would always rent the same house near to the <i>Anden Verde<\/i><\/p>\n<p>And stay together for six days<\/p>\n<p>Before separating once
