Edward and I were in London when a girl walked towards us covered in blood <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was wearing a white blouse and denim cut downs which in itself was unusual for a winters day <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There seemed to be a great deal of blood covering her cunt <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She seemed to be hemorrhaging<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As if she had been raped <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We immediately went to help her <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it was all theatre <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was all part of a protest<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Violence against women <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I began to cry as I felt the nakedness of her protest <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edward felt it as he is Jewish <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I asked the girl if I might share her blood <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which I did and smeared it all over my dress <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dress had been expensive <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I did not care <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I walked with the others who were protesting <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I felt proud of myself <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I should not have felt proud <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I did <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Worldwide thousands of women are subjected to sexual violence <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even in the UK <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This said apart from an interest most people passing ignored us <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although Edward and I live in a safe village <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where riding without lights Is a major crime <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We look out for each other and if a stranger is noted <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Especially if they are darker skinned then the radars are activated <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why I can walk the dog after dark <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is a beautiful English village <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I am so happy there <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But not all women are that lucky <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many live in towns and cities that are frankly unsafe <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are many reasons for that <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the protest had ended Edward offered to buy me a new dress <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I refused and travelled home as I was <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To the naked eye it appeared that I had been raped <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was not my idea as Janice had suggested it <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Neither Edward or I were challenged <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nobody came forward <\/p>\n\n\n\n
