It was the birthplace of the president <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But that was not the reason I was there <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I was writing a book about Lola Le Lange <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who had been the secret mistress of our leader <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Little was known about her apart from a few likenesses <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was the third illegitimate daughter of a railwayman <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who had lived in the Northern Sector before his execution <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I found the house where Lola had lived quite easily <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was a modest residence typical of the area<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the normal red door and golden knocker <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet what made it rather special was that it was next <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To a busy commuter line and an automatic level crossing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To the right of the house was a very ornate signal box <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which had been built for Lola’s pleasure only <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As she was fascinated by trains having lived on a station <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was not connected and had no function at all <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was all that remained of Lola’s memory <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As she had disappeared on a journey to The Astor <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many theories have been presented but none proved <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had the President tired of his quiet mistress or did she know too much <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is where I come in as I have been commissioned by the President <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To write a perfumed biography of Lola Le Lange for mass consumption <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will do so without fuss or bother as I plan to be near the president <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But far far away when my box of perfumed books are presented to him <\/p>\n\n\n\n
History will remember me as the modest writer who started a revolution <\/p>\n\n\n\n
