Mummy <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I travelled to Kingsdown in Kent <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the invitation of Eddy Stevens <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wanted to show off his new pad <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Josie and Cora tagged along <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cora had expressed a wish <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To see the real England <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Free from the decay <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That so spoils it these days <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kingsdown reminds me a little of Dungeness <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because of its geography <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But because the village just seems to fade <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dungeness is the End Of England <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whereas Kingsdown shrinks quietly into the White Cliffs <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It gives one an unusual feeling of abandonment <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a lovely beach side pub <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is named The Zetland Arms <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which like the Albion in Freshwater <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is only yards from the sea <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whilst we were enjoying lunch <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A young couple and their two children <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Occupied the table next to us <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I watched Cora study them with interest <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The guy was slightly smaller than me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I could sense that he was quite gentle <\/p>\n\n\n\n
(unlike your son who is quite edgy at times ) <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His wife who he called Laura was delicate and feminine <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She had dressed simply without any decoration <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The children (both girls) were smaller copies <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly after we had finished our meal we walked<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Kingsdown has a large shingle beach <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day was warm with a clear sea breeze <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the girls collected some unusual pebbles <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was as we walked back that Cora asked me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If this was a typical of England <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My answer was mixed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Kingsdown still lives slightly in the past <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not much has really changed apart from fishing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
(only the chic dereliction remains)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I told her although much improved <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is how England used to be <\/p>\n\n\n\n
White so very white with a sense of belonging <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The people who once lived here had a connection with the sea <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the sea ran through the veins of these people<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of the locals if not all have gone and have been replaced <\/p>\n\n\n\n
By outsiders who have the means (Sussex People) <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are not bad people yet the area has in a way become gentrified <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Josie noted that the gentle family who sat next to us <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Were typical of the people who now inhabit areas such as this <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Decent white people whose fathers and their fathers <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Made this country great before the betrayal and the subsequent decay
Different subject <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Josie and Cora will be down on Wednesday afternoon <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will say hello on Sunday <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without being obvious Josie is a little different <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is in love again <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do think Cora is the one <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The balance is returning <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Will this effect our dynamics <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do not know <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I really do not know <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ours was an intense unusual relationship <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But deep down I always thought it might change <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We as a trio have had some ideas <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I feel that if we let the ship sail unaided <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then it might take its natural course <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who knows <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of all <\/p>\n\n\n\n
DO NOT WORRY <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Josie is better so much better <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Joe <\/p>\n\n\n\n
