I have an irrational fear of flying <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even though I have flown<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On many occasions here and there <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no reason for this <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I blame my physics master Mr Webb <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who when asked a question at St Polly’s <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Demonstrated the theory of flying <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Using a sheet of foolscap paper <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Great but planes are not made of paper <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And are heavy creatures weighing some tons <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is not so much the flying I hate <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But hitting the ground hard and being roasted alive <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am okay on high speed trains as I understand them <\/p>\n\n\n\n
(Josie does not like super fast trains)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am okay on ships as I am a decent swimmer<\/p>\n\n\n\n
(Josie loves the sea but not the fish beneath)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am a bit iffy in cars when they are on motorways <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But am usually quite relaxed at lower speeds <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My fear of flying pisses Josie off as she loves flying <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She thinks I am a six foot wimp who writes poetry <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will fly if I have to fly but will worry about it for weeks<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I leave I tend to look at my bed and wonder <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we will ever share my intimate dreams again <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My pillow will remain where my pillow exists <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nothing will change unless the cat sleeps on it <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whereas I will be bombing through the clouds <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thousands of feet above fuck knows where <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is then that I wonder if I will return safely
