I am in Rye in East Sussex
The sun is high and the air is warm
What a beautiful town it is
But within an hour of arriving here
I heard something\u00a0so ridiculous
That it made me smile
There was a rather large woman at the next table
Who announced that she was disabled
And that Rye was not disabled friendly
A chap who was sitting nearby
Noted that neither was Mount Everest and that she should get a life
The woman stormed out if you can call it that
I was taught when eye was very young
That the world does not owe ewe a living
Just get on with it and do your best
Be kind and always cheerful
(take note of that Joe)
People\u00a0are basically good
But to whinge is to irritate
Just\u00a0like that silly woman on the train a couple of weeks ago
I know the railways fucked up
But in a way she damaged the message
With her actions
As she whinged whinged and whinged again
As you know after that childhood accident
I am deaf in my right ear
It is irritating but that is all
Do I whinge about it
No because I consider myself whole
And the hearing in my left ear is super wonderful
I am just an ordinary girl who does ordinary things
I might ask you to repeat yourself
That is all
I do not wear a badge
That is a pointless occupation
This is what is wrong with this wretched country
We all join jolly little groups
Which only ring fence our hang ups
The whole idea is counterproductive
If I had a little more money
I would live in Rye
As I love its cobbled streets and impossible hills
And I know that if I was run over because of\u00a0my right ear
Then it will be by a car or a van and not a mobility scooter
Which is a relief
