I was a policeman for a number of years <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I wanted to give something back to the community <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In certain ways I did make a difference <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But then the decay set in <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I grew quite cynical <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which made me uncomfortable <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I enjoyed the accidents <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That the bad guys suffered <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are harder than you <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do not forget that <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I became very fluid in my policing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
An incident stands out <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was off duty and popped down to the local supermarket <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was before I met Jenni <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My mother was suffering her final illness <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Obviously I was in pieces <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was as I was walking down an alley <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That I noticed a bunch of teenagers tormenting a nonce <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was dressed as a woman <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Normally I would have broken this up <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But on that evening I was angry very angry <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I watched as the kids beat the pervert <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For some reason this brought me a great happiness <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was then invited to do my bit by the gang <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This I did and I learned later <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That I had fractured the perverts eye socket <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This made me feel good <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I hated the world <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Am I ashamed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No not a bit <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Would I do the same thing again <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During my time in the force <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I also investigated love crimes <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was not my area of expertise <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sad but one cannot be good at everything <\/p>\n\n\n\n
