{"id":2539,"date":"2016-08-21T12:26:08","date_gmt":"2016-08-21T12:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stuartmillerosborne.co.uk\/?p=2539"},"modified":"2016-08-21T13:13:42","modified_gmt":"2016-08-21T13:13:42","slug":"lovers-in-the-lilacs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2016\/08\/21\/lovers-in-the-lilacs\/","title":{"rendered":"Lovers in the Lilacs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the corner of the sports ground five cricketers were watching a football match<\/p>\n<p>Their game had been interrupted by frequent showers<\/p>\n<p>You and I were lying peacefully in a display of lilacs high above the ground<\/p>\n<p>I was wearing my best suit which had been carefully made by a Jewish tailor<\/p>\n<p>And you wearing just a skirt<\/p>\n<p>But what a skirt this was<\/p>\n<p>A gift from your maternal grandmother<\/p>\n<p>As we floated you expressed a concern that your breasts might be seen by those below<\/p>\n<p>At first I did not answer<\/p>\n<p>But you repeated your concern<\/p>\n<p>I explained that we were tiny people and even the lilac posey could not be seen from the ground<\/p>\n<p>You relaxed and loosened my tie<\/p>\n<p>I ran my hand along your bare shoulder<\/p>\n<p>You shivered although it was not cold<\/p>\n<p>I held you and kissed your cheek<\/p>\n<p>Which was blushing red<\/p>\n<p>As red as the threads within your skirt<\/p>\n<p>In the distance above the dark shower clouds<\/p>\n<p>The sun shone brightly<\/p>\n<p>And our lilac flowers celebrated its warmth<\/p>\n<p>But not its colour<\/p>\n<p>A droplet of water ran between your breasts<\/p>\n<p><i>See the weather reaches us too<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>You are mistaken for it is only a tear <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>A tear?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>From the Day Moon <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Why should the Day Moon weep? <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>It weeps frequently <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>But why? <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Because it loves the tiny jews so much<\/i><\/p>\n<p><em>We are much loved by the Day Moon<\/em><\/p>\n<p><i>But it is often bullied by the sun<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Our jealous father <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Michal looked into the bright blue sky<\/p>\n<p><i>Why is such conflict in Heaven? <\/i><\/p>\n<p>The wind started to rock the lilac posey<\/p>\n<p><i>Do not fear the fierce wind it is of no hindrance to us <\/i><\/p>\n<p>But I was wrong and our posey began to break apart<\/p>\n<p>And we floated downwards slowly on a lilac petal<\/p>\n<p>I was seated in the wooden stand watching the football match<\/p>\n<p>The purple and white lilac petal fell into my lap<\/p>\n<p>It was closed<\/p>\n<p>I examined it and saw a tiny Jewish couple huddled in each other\u2019s arms<\/p>\n<p>They were both sleeping<\/p>\n<p>In the sky above a vivid rainbow was burning<\/p>\n<p>The Jewish girl opened her eyes<\/p>\n<p><i>Help us sir for we have been expelled from the heavens<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>My name is Michal and this is Chaim <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Do not worry for as soon as the rainbow is gone I will walk to the field of the lilac bushes and there create a display to enable you to travel high <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Why do you help us so you are such a good man?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Because like you I was expelled from the heavens during a sudden storm and fell to earth with my beloved <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>But there was no-one to give us aid and because of that both Caron and I grew fully and since have had children and grandchildren<\/i><\/p>\n<p><em>We have been much blessed<\/em><\/p>\n<p><i>Unlike the others in this football ground I was aware of your distress and that is why I collected your petal<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The Jewess did not answer me and closed her eyes<\/p>\n<p>I placed the petal into my jacket pocket<\/p>\n<p>The game ended and in the pouring rain I walked towards the lilac field distant on the downs<\/p>\n<p>When I arrived some hours later the storm had passed and the rainbow had faded<\/p>\n<p>I soon found a magnificent lilac bush and began to weave a posey from its colourful petals<\/p>\n<p>When it was complete I placed the fallen petal in the centre of the display and it floated upwards almost straight away<\/p>\n<p>The Jewess leaned over the edge of the posey as it gained height<\/p>\n<p><i>Who are you sir?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>What is your name?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Saul my name is Saul <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>But you may know me better as Chaim<\/i><\/p>\n<p>I watched as the lilac posey vanished from my immediate view<\/p>\n<p>Later I met my wife in the lane that led to the town<\/p>\n<p>She placed a dry coat on my shoulders<\/p>\n<p><i>You have walked far again <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The battles in heaven have returned and it is my duty to protect the innocent <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>As we have been protected and blessed since our arrival many years ago <\/i><\/p>\n<p>At the crossroads we both stopped and watched as the poesy drifted in the lunar winds towards the passive day moon<\/p>\n<p>The angry sun was still quite high<\/p>\n<p>War was threatened<\/p>\n<p>And I knew only the innocents would suffer<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the corner of the sports ground five cricketers were watching a football match Their game had been interrupted by frequent showers You and I were lying peacefully in a display of lilacs high above the ground I was wearing my best suit which had been carefully made by a Jewish tailor And you wearing [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2539"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2539"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2539\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2539"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2539"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2539"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
