Kit Marlowe’s tower stands proud <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Opposite a mish-mash of banality <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am in Canterbury today <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A great deal remains <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But a great deal has been replaced <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet it is not the buildings or the shops <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the people who I am recording <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are so very different from when I was young <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daddy’s 1986 movie shows this clearly <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2025 a decay is apparent due to corruption<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those from other shores pollute our streets <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beggars and other wasters haunt the doorways <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The city was still bruised in 1986 due to the war <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it was not slowly decaying as it is today <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And believe it or not Canterbury is lucky <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As there are many cities and towns that are almost dead <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to the spread of malignancies unchecked <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are the real traitors <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It begs the question <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did we really win the war
You have used a harsh pen Joe <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I totally agree with you <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have watched Daddy’s movies <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Time and many times after <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reason for the decay screams loudly<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whether the Canterbury tourist people<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Will like it is another question <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As you are very honest in a dishonest world <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am proud to have ewe as a brother <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And as you say a charity has benefited
