A small booklet about a mystery <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That has never really been solved <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The booklet is less than ten pages long <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It tells of the discovery of at fourteen skeletons <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Found over a small area in Idaho in 1960 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eight men and six women <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were found when a highway was under construction<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Near Twin Falls in 1959<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Human remains dating back thousands of years <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had previously been found <\/p>\n\n\n\n
By archaeologists in the area<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it soon became apparent that these remains <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Were less than a hundred years old <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that the victims had died violently <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most had been stabbed and shot <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But some had been beaten to death <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The almost even split was also puzzling <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that the remains were found in tight groups <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The death toll could have been greater than fourteen <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But although the area was thoroughly searched <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nothing else of note was found <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was obvious that the bones <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Were not Native American in origin <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fragments of clothing were thought to be Swedish <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was later confirmed that these were the remains <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the Carson Party who were known <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To have been in Nevada in 1876 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were Swedish in origin <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the actual reasons for their journey were obscure<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was decided that that they were pioneers <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As George Carson was a farmer <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No other members of the party have been accurately identified <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It seems that at least fourteen members of the party <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had met violent unrecorded deaths <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Historical records indicate that these groups were normally about thirty strong <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For reasons unexplained the Carson Party were either attacked <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or had imploded after fighting amongst themselves <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another thing that remains odd is that nobody ever came forward afterwards <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is likely that after whatever happened some might have escaped <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only reference to the Carson Party can be found in US military records <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where a soldier named Peter Carson gave the name of his father as George Carson from Norrk\u00f6ping<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sadly this soldier did not survive the war <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was unmarried and had no siblings <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No trace of his mother has ever been found <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that Paul is where it ends nothing more is known <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which adds to the mystery <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is obvious that there were some appalling acts of violence <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Carson Party as far as can be concluded were no different <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From thousands of other pioneers in search of a new life <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So little is known about them <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And what has been confirmed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hardly fills this small booklet <\/p>\n\n\n\n
