Whilst in my dreamlike state I steal newspapers from a farmhouse that once belonged to the Crown<\/p>\n
The house is set away from the road and is partially hidden by a large hedge<\/p>\n
It belongs to the Pointing family<\/p>\n
And the newspapers are deposited in mailbox at the top of the drive by my holy brother<\/p>\n
The eldest daughter is aware of my crime but has not reported me as I am blackmailing her<\/p>\n
Her exposure to the media would cause more damage than my petty theft<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Each day we are allowed to choose a photograph from a collection on a trestle table<\/p>\n
The monochrome photographs show views of trees and great forests<\/p>\n
My holy brother after choice places the photograph<\/p>\n
In perfumed water and thanks God<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I am due to go to the theatre with my son<\/p>\n
We are a nostalgic double act<\/p>\n
And are much loved<\/p>\n
Today I am wearing my slippers<\/p>\n
I have left my shoes in a football changing room<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I ask my son to wait for me<\/p>\n
So that I may change my footwear<\/p>\n
But when in the changing room<\/p>\n
I find a scarf<\/p>\n
Belonging to the Pointing family<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In deciding that I should steal it<\/p>\n
I am inflicting more misery and hardship<\/p>\n
On that poor family<\/p>\n
And as I am going blind<\/p>\n
My occupation is fruitless<\/p>\n
So I return to my son still wearing my slippers<\/p>\n
