Scar

Here I am

I have nothing to hide

This is my scar

Although by no means was it as serious as Frida’s horrible injury

There were some odd similarities

My umbrella was partially the cause of my silly accident

Indirectly an umbrella caused Frida’s misfortune

She was returning from school in September 1925

When she alighted from her original streetcar

To look for an umbrella that she had misplaced

The second streetcar was involved in a fatal collision

And Frida received injuries that totally changed her life

What happened to you

I was in my normal Dolly Daydream mood and ended up running for a train

As it had been raining I was carrying a wooden umbrella

It was not the trolley that injured me but my silly umbrella

Yes I tripped over the luggage trolley but I splintered my umbrella as I fell

Part of the shaft ripped into my inner thigh

I was so very lucky as it was only inches from a much more serious injury

As I lay on the railway platform I felt so foolish and began to cry

That is all that I really remember until I was informed about my injury in hospital

It was whilst I was there that I first heard of Frida Kahlo

Nurse Drake had studied Art History and gave me a glossy book

Do you still have the book

Yes it is on the a shelf in my study

As the scar healed I become very self conscious

I no longer swam with friends and wore longer shorts on the beach

You are the first person who has really studied my scar

I do not think that your scar is unsightly

It is what it is and your pubic hair does cover part of it

That is so very sweet of you

I still feel that people look at my injury

Look at my knees I have numerous scars

Football

Yes

Do I care

Not all all

Souvenirs of Battle

Truthfully do you really care

I suppose not

Except on my silly days

Do you realise that I soon became obsessed with the artist

I am still deeply in love with her

There are numerous posters in my flat

I also own a couple of Frida tee shirts and other idiocies

Not the knickers just tell me not the knickers

Sadly yes

I feel so foolish when changing on the beach

Does anybody care

They are yours

Really

My gift to you

I will feel so foolish when changing on the beach

Then keep them under your pillow

Or about your person

All I humbly ask

Is that you think about me

When you touch them in the future

Here I am I have nothing to hide This
