Two unnamed horses were leaning over a fence<\/p>\n
There used to be a railway here<\/i><\/p>\n
I know it was closed down many years ago <\/i><\/p>\n
I suppose the reasoning was the jockey\u2019s welfare <\/i><\/p>\n
Explain <\/i><\/p>\n
Well jockeys are by nature small people <\/i><\/p>\n
And the railway owners were worried <\/i><\/p>\n
That they would have become lost and disorientated <\/i><\/p>\n
If the service continued <\/i><\/p>\n
That seemed a good reason to close the railway <\/i><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Cold War <\/b><\/p>\n
Two farmers were walking towards the town<\/p>\n
The stopped outside of a scrapyard<\/p>\n
This is a graveyard of buses <\/i><\/p>\n
I know they have used this area for years <\/i><\/p>\n
Since the Cold War ended<\/i><\/p>\n
I wonder why they scrap buses <\/i><\/p>\n
It seems incredible to me that they do so <\/i><\/p>\n
If the Cold War starts again <\/i><\/p>\n
And we are heading that way <\/i><\/p>\n
I wonder what they will do with all these buses <\/i><\/p>\n
It will be a problem as there are so many <\/i><\/p>\n

The Rice Field <\/b><\/p>\n
In a rice field two peasants were discussing sea-horses<\/p>\n
Their day had finished and they were walking towards their homes<\/p>\n
I cannot see what attracts these creatures to the rice fields <\/i><\/p>\n
They are so graceful <\/i><\/p>\n
They must be attracted by the coloured towels that we bring with us each day <\/i><\/p>\n
That is a possibility <\/i><\/p>\n
When I was a child and my mother and father worked these fields <\/i><\/p>\n
There were no sea-horses then<\/i><\/p>\n
What has changed in thirty years? <\/i><\/p>\n
Only one thing has changed since those far off days <\/i><\/p>\n
What is that my friend?<\/i><\/p>\n
The colour of our towels <\/i><\/p>\n
When we were young we only brought white towels<\/i><\/p>\n
There were no coloured towels \u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
We now bring towels of many colours <\/i><\/p>\n
That I believe is what attracts these beautiful creatures<\/i><\/p>\n
To the wet-fields <\/i><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Pelicans <\/b><\/p>\n
Three pelicans were found outside of an inn<\/p>\n
Fighting over a small twig<\/p>\n
A passer-by stopped an took the twig away from the birds<\/p>\n
He asked why they could not agree on ownership<\/p>\n
It is not the twig that we are fighting over <\/i><\/p>\n
But the shadow it creates <\/i><\/p>\n
Today is a very bright January day do you not agree?<\/i><\/p>\n
It is a very bright day which is certainly unusual for January <\/i><\/p>\n
Days such as today can occur when low pressure from the west and high pressure from the east meet <\/i><\/p>\n
It is like being on the edge of a cliff <\/i><\/p>\n
You could be five miles away and be under a blanket of cloud <\/i><\/p>\n
That is was what we were fighting about <\/i><\/p>\n
None of us cared much about the twig <\/i><\/p>\n
We only cared about its shadow <\/i><\/p>\n
In an hour this area might be dull \u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
And we would lose the memory of this illuminated day<\/i><\/p>\n
That is why the conflict arose <\/i><\/p>\n
