{"id":3131,"date":"2017-03-06T17:48:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-06T17:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stuartmillerosborne.co.uk\/?p=3131"},"modified":"2017-03-06T17:48:50","modified_gmt":"2017-03-06T17:48:50","slug":"sea-tales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2017\/03\/06\/sea-tales\/","title":{"rendered":"Sea Tales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Milk Sea\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Milk Sky <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The modern pier at Deal stood that day against the milky sea and the milky sky<\/p>\n<p>Robyn was standing next to the entrance of the pier<\/p>\n<p>She was holding a vintage American camera<\/p>\n<p><i>Each time the light changes I will capture it with my shutter <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>That camera is so ancient that you will be lucky to capture anything <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Mark was a sitting and watching his American girlfriend as she adjusted her camera lens<\/p>\n<p>In the distance a ferry had just left Dover on its journey to Calais<\/p>\n<p>Mark turned and watched the ship as it made slow progress towards its destination<\/p>\n<p><i>Take a photograph of the ferry before it disappears from view <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Robyn lifted her camera high and took a photograph<\/p>\n<p><i>I can see the coast of France you know<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>That is strange considering the light we have today <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The beginning of the continent <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Or the end of England <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Dover is the end of England <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I was referring to France <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Dover is not on the continent <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Obviously <\/i><\/p>\n<p>As she playfully argued with Mark<\/p>\n<p>Robyn accidently took another photograph<\/p>\n<p><i>See what you have made me do <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>You were careless not me <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Although it was unknown to Robyn at the time her photograph had captured the very moment when the milk sea and the milk sky had parted to declare a solid horizon<\/p>\n<p>The ferry oblivious to this change had continued on its journey<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Screaming Skull Stone <\/b><\/p>\n<p>I first met the screaming skull stone\u00a0in front of its weathered hut when visiting the beach<\/p>\n<p>As we waited for the tide to recede the stone invited me into its hut<\/p>\n<p>I accepted the invitation<\/p>\n<p>The hut itself was sparsely furnished with a number of pieces of bleached driftwood populating its two shelves<\/p>\n<p>Other items associated with the sea were carelessly spread around the hut<\/p>\n<p>Facing the door there was a framed print of Lucrezia Borgia by Bartolomeo Veneto<\/p>\n<p>I was quite surprised to see this mysterious painting hung so vividly<\/p>\n<p><i>She visits me often <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>We sit here quite often watching the sea <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Tides in and tides out <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Have you ever asked her to explain the mysteries of the painting?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>No but she would remain silent on the subject if I asked her <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I have always found the painting very odd <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>What is the significance of the flowers?<br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Why is her left breast exposed?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>And what of the cross that dangles loosely from her slim neck?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I know as much as you do perhaps less <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Will she ever visit you when I am here?
