I have been in Japan for six days <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And have travelled far <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have leaned many things<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly how tall I am in comparison <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To the average Japanese person <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am just over six tall which is not unusual <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In most European countries <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second is usually not discussed in polite company <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I had assumed that Japanese women were shaven <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Given their resemblance to porcelain dolls <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But that is not the case as Izumi told me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I chatted to her whilst bathing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It appears that the natural look is favoured <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As it is seen as more feminine <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I thought about Japan as I travelled on the Shinkansen<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bullet train that has been in service for over sixty years <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Izumi is travelling with me although we are mostly silent <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The theatre of this beautiful journey <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Have made our conversations slowly redundant
